Our puppies are raised in Casa Grande, Arizona, and fly to North Carolina in an easy morning. Every puppy is $850, and travel is quoted separately once a puppy is reserved.
The honest answer
Why North Carolina is a flight,
not a drive.
Around thirty hours by road, across most of the country. The nonstop from Phoenix is about four, which is the whole argument. Charlotte is a large hub with frequent service and suits the bulk of the state; the Triangle and everything east of it belongs to Raleigh-Durham.
Pick between them on the drive at your end rather than on the fare. A cheaper flight into the wrong airport is not cheaper by the time you have done an extra two hours on I-40 with a puppy who has had enough.

Three ways a puppy

Ground transport
Two to three days by road, door to door, with updates as they go. Worth considering if an airport with a newborn puppy is not your idea of a good morning.
Never in the hold alone
No puppy of ours flies as unaccompanied cargo. If that is the only way a route works, then the route does not work.

What catches
North Carolina families out?
Humidity, which is not the same animal as heat. Your puppy leaves a dry Arizona morning and lands in a Carolina July, and that transition is harder on them than the number on the thermometer suggests. Early flight, short handover, cooled car already running. That order.
Hurricane season is the other. From late summer through autumn a storm can take a date away with almost no notice. When that happens your puppy simply stays with us until there is a clear morning at both ends, and it costs you nothing.
If you are on the coast or out towards the Banks, say so before anything is booked. Four hours from RDU means the landing slot matters far more than the ticket price.

Where you are, roughly when suits, and who is around during the day. A $300 holding deposit reserves a puppy once we agree it is a good match, and it comes off the $850.
We plan the journey after that. August and October are genuinely different trips here, and guessing in advance helps nobody.
Settling in
What should you expect
in the first days?
After a summer flight the priority is cool and quiet, in that order. Air conditioning on in the car, water offered as soon as you are moving, and a proper meal once you are home and settled rather than at the airport.
Keep the food the same for a week or two. Between the travel, the new water and a new house there is already plenty changing, and the diet is the one variable you can simply hold still.
Carolina families come to us from Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Cary, Fayetteville, Wilmington and Asheville, and from the coast when the timing suits.
