From Casa Grande to Florida
How a puppy gets
to Florida.
Our puppies are raised in Casa Grande, about an hour from Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX). For Florida families the usual airports are Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Miami (MIA) and Jacksonville (JAX). A nonstop flight from Phoenix takes about four to four and a half hours. By road it is more than thirty hours to Orlando, well over two thousand miles.
Florida is a flight placement. Orlando and Tampa have the most nonstop service from Phoenix, and families in South Florida usually meet the flight in Fort Lauderdale or Miami. The Panhandle often works best through a connection or a ground transport discussion.
Both ends of this trip are hot for much of the year. We plan early flights, keep the handoff short, and ask Florida families to have the car cooled and ready before landing. Hurricane season from June to November can move a travel date.

What should you expect
after the flight?
Humidity is the adjustment, not the heat. A puppy raised in dry Arizona air finds a Florida afternoon heavier going than the temperature suggests, so keep the first few days indoors and early, and let them acclimatise over a fortnight rather than a weekend.
Keep the food the same for a week or two. Offer water in the car straight away and a proper meal once you are home, not at the airport.
Florida families come from Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, Cape Coral, Sarasota, Naples and Tallahassee.
